Web Hosting Tools Currently Available in UIT

UIT offers blogs (WordPress) and wikis as part of the Spark suite of tools. These applications, especially WordPress, are used quite often for managing websites. Read more about the Spark tools available to find out if these tools are right for you.

A quick note on the Spark tools. If you choose any of these tools, you cannot get a domain name for them. The domains are automatically generated from the tool.  So, for example, you will not be able to have a domain.tufts.edu point to one of these sites.  If you want to use the Spark tools but need a short, easy-to-remember domain to point to your website, consider using our Go Script service.

Legacy Web Hosting by UIT – aka "Emerald"

If you’ve been around Tufts for a long time, you’ve probably heard of "Emerald." Emerald is the server used to post content to websites on www.tufts.edu. No new accounts are being created on Emerald, and if you use Emerald to update your website now, you should consider moving your site to a new web host.
